Special Sessions
Conference Special Sessions
These afternoon activities are designed to help attendees hone writing skills.
Writer to Writer
In small groups, attendees start to build a community of like-minded people who speak their “language” and who understand the ups and downs of writing and publishing. Using directive questions, members of the small group will share personal experiences, both joys and disappointments. Most importantly, they may begin to develop that supportive community we all need.
Work in Progress (WIP) Sharing
The number one way for most Indie authors and those who use small presses to build an audience is by word of mouth. In a reorganized small group, our attendees will share current works in progress (WIP) by describing them or by reading a section to tablemates. Those they meet today will be the seedbed of their audience.
Critiques Are Gold
After a short craft lesson, newly reseated groups will spend about half an hour critiquing a piece of writing they have been assigned. After they come to a consensus of their praises and pans, we will share their efforts. We will end the session with a Q & A.
